Provisional cast on

There are many types of provisional cast-ons, I find the “one step method” particularly neat.

The first video by Purl Soho is only the cast on, and is for those who hold hte yarn in the right hand.

The second, by knit-purl hunter, is for pickers, and also shows how to unzip it.

Remember  to start unzipping from the chain end and to recover the “lost” stitch – thread a safety line through the first row of “real” stitches after the provisional cast on, and use the tail end of the working yarn on the first row to “trap” it – shown from minute 2:10 in the third video.
